(주)스마젠의 에이즈백신은 미국 FDA로부터 2011년 임상 1상 시험 승인을 받아, 임상시험 CRO로 미국 PPD Development, LP사를 선정하여 미국 내 임상시험 시설에서 진행, 성공적으로 완료하였습니다. 이 임상시험 비용의 일부는 빌게이츠재단(Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation)과 캐나다 정부가 공동으로 마련한 에이즈 연구개발기금의 지원을 받기도 하였습니다. 고무적인 임상시험 결과를 바탕으로 현재, 임상 2상 시험을 준비 중에 있습니다.

(주)스마젠은 코비드19 (COVID 19)에 대응하기 위하여 스마젠의 VSV 벡터 기술을 활용하여 COVID19에 가장 효율적이라고 생각되는 백신설계를 이미 마치고, 한국과 캐나다의 연구진을 총동원하여 재조합 VSV 코비드 19 백신(Recombinant VSV COVID 19)을 만들어 국제백신연구소와 함께 동물실험을 포함한 임상실험 진행을 준비 중에 있습니다.

Sumagen's HIV/AIDS vaccine was approved by US FDA for its IND of Phase I human clinical trial in December of 2011 and the Phase I human clinical trial had been successfully completed. The Phase I human clinical trial was funded by the HIV/AIDS vaccine development fund, jointly launched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the government of Canada. Sumagen is preparing the Phase II human clinical trial to show the efficacy of HIV/AIDS vaccine.

Sumagen has completed the design of a COVID-19 vaccine based on VSV vector technology that is known to have superiority in efficacy. The researchers in Korea and Canada, with the International Vaccine Institute, developed the Recombinant VSV COVID 19 to enter an immunogenicity test in animals and demonstrated the efficacy of the vaccine candidates.
